What Is the Color Blind Test?

Test how well you can spot small differences between colors and shades.

What Does the Test Measure?

This test challenges your ability to distinguish between similar colors. Your visual system normally uses different types of cone cells to detect color, and differences in color perception can make some shades harder to tell apart. Learn more about color vision .

How Does the Test Work?

Each round contains a grid of colored tiles. One tile is slightly different from the others. Your task is to find and click the odd tile as quickly as possible.

As you progress, the color difference becomes smaller and the challenge increases.

What Does Your Score Mean?

Your score is the highest level you reach. A higher level means you were able to identify smaller differences between colors.

Because screen brightness, color settings, and monitor calibration can affect how colors appear, your result is best treated as an online performance score rather than a medical measurement. Research has also shown that web-based color tests can be useful for screening under controlled conditions, but hardware differences can affect results. Read the research .

What Can Affect Your Result?

Important: This is an online color-discrimination challenge and is not a medical test for color vision deficiency. If you are concerned about your color vision, an eye-care professional can perform a proper color vision test. Learn about clinical color vision testing .
